New York Is Opening Back Up Just in Time for Summer
New York is opening back up just in time for the summer.
As of today (April 1), domestic travelers are no longer required to quarantine after entering New York from other U.S. States or Territories.
“New Yorkers have shown strength and perseverance throughout this entire pandemic, and it shows through the numbers that continue to decrease every day,” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced in a mid-March press release. “As we work to build our vaccination infrastructure even further and get more shots in arms, we’re making significant progress in winning the footrace between the infection rate and the vaccination rate, allowing us to open new sectors of our economy and start our transition to a new normal in a post-pandemic world. As part of that transition, quarantine for domestic travelers is no longer required, but it is still being advised as an added precaution. “
This is great news for anybody hoping to enjoy the many events coming to New York State — particularly New York City — this summer. However, some prospective travelers will likely still feel apprehensive about traveling during the pandemic, particularly to a region that was rocked so severely in the early chapters of this crisis.
Those travelers can take comfort in New York’s ambitious vaccine rollout plan.
As of Tuesday, April 6, all New Yorkers over the age of 30 will be eligible for vaccination.
“We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but until we get there it is more important than ever for each and every New Yorker to wear a mask, socially distance and follow all safety guidelines,” Governor Cuomo said in a statement on Monday (via The New York Times).
The bottom line? Travelers can now visit New York with far greater ease, and with significantly reduced risk. You could be exploring Times Square or posing for photos in front of the Statue of Liberty before you know it.
